Today my classroom was the place to be! I decided that since my students would probably be bouncing off the walls today, I would harness that energy for good!
We started our day by estimating how many marshmallows would fit into their ghosts. I thought this might be too elementary school for them, but they LOVED it! We then went on to "Mystery Math" and "Spooky Sudoku".
For reading/language arts, my students were told to write a story about a monster that they made up. That is all the direction I gave. I got back WONDERFUL stories! Usually getting them to write is like pulling teeth. Apparently I need to print off monster paper for all our writing assignments. After they finished writing, we watching "Monster's University".
Next up was history. We read about the history of the Jack-o-lantern. Then we made our own Jack-o-lanterns out of rice krispies! Here are some of my boys molding their pumpkins.
Stirring up the marshmallow mixture.
The finished products! My students even did a fabulous job cleaning up the kitchen space. I was pretty darn proud of those kiddos.
We didn't have time for any of the slimy sticky science experiments we were going to do, so we ended by watching "Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin". Perfect way to end a perfect day!
