Baby Ka-nute!

Well family and friends, the time has come to make our big announcement on the blog.

We are expecting a baby in March of 2013! The exact due date that our doctor gave us is March 8, 2013. However, since this is my first little one, it will probably end up being later than that. My mom says her due date for me was August 23, and I was born September 7! Yikes!

Currently I am 9 weeks along. This means the baby is the size of a green olive. However, even though the little baby is that tiny, we were able to see his/her head, arms and legs on our ultrasound last Friday. We even saw the heart beating! The more I read about our little baby's development, the more I am amazed at God's miracle!

A lot of times, people wait until the 2nd trimester to break the news to friends and family, but our doctor told us everything is going wonderfully, and it is safe to tell if we want to.

Before anyone starts asking, we will not be finding out the gender of our baby until D-day! Tony felt strongly that he wanted it to be a surprise, and the more I think about it, the more I agree!

Some of you may be wondering how I am feeling. I can sum up the last 9 weeks in one word: exhausted! I am tired at every point of every day! I decided to give up caffeine completely for the pregnancy, but I couldn't stay awake or get enough energy for my normal every day tasks. I now started to drink only 1 Diet Coke a day. Mindy told me she did throughout her pregnancies, and her kids turned out wonderfully! This gives me just a little boost to get through my day. Other than being tired, I feel great as long as I avoid fried foods, ground beef and peanut butter!

Did I mention that I eat pickles with every meal? I thought this was a myth and that cravings wouldn't start until later in my pregnancy! I was wrong.

What about my life as a student/teacher?
This fall I will be student teaching at Stewartville Middle School. This is only until November 30; then my plan is to sub until I am too uncomfortable! Then when the baby comes, I will have 6 months to stay at home with him/her. I will be looking for a teaching job in the spring after the baby is born, so I can start my first real teaching job in September 2013!
Meanwhile, I will still be finishing my masters in education through the pregnancy and birth of our baby. I will be finished with that in June 2013. Augsburg is very helpful when life situations make attending class difficult. I hope to attend classes in an online manner during the first few weeks of our little baby's life.

Did I cover everything? I think I did for the time being. I will keep you updated with the ever changing little peanut!
