Naughty Kitty!

Today was not a good day for my relationship with my kitty. She woke me up with a nice sized scratch to my nose. Apparently I wouldn't wake up to pet her...

Then, while I've been working on homework all day, she jumps onto my chair and plays with my hair! It does not feel good at all with these little claws digging into my head.

After a while of not seeing her for a while, I hear some noises upstairs. I go up and find her walking on the railing of our balcony like it's a tightrope. There are garland leaves wrapped around it right now, and half of it is hanging in pieces on the ground in the hallway.

The last straw was when she got herself to the highest ledge of the mantel. To my knowledge she's never been up there before. She certainly did not know how to get herself down...She sat there staring at me and meowing until I saved her!

Now that Tony's home from work, she's a loving purring kitty!

What a day with the kitty! I did capture some of these moments on camera...Enjoy!

Tightrope walking Luna!

She's trying to figure out if she really wants to get up there.

She was very careful not to disturb any of the frames or books up there. You can't really tell, but she's right on the edge of the ledge!

Now she needed to be as high as she can get in our home: on top of the Shakespeare book.

She looked away when I took this, but this is when she was begging for me to save her!

Tables of 8

Last night, Tony and I hosted a Tables of 8 meal. I took the day off work, since there were no students, and I needed LOTS of time to cook and clean. Our house has been a disaster since our wedding. There were wedding gifts everywhere along with the wrappings they came in...

Here is our table set-up. The nice fall decorations were stolen from my parent's dining room table...

Here's the one half of the table.

and here's the other half!

I also took my parent's table runner that my Aunt Christa made for their 25th wedding anniversary. I think it looks really nice there! (Mom already came and got it back however...)

This is the plate my Aunt Elinor made for us as a wedding gift. I've always wanted my own lovebird plate, so I was very excited she made us one!

Luna thought we should get rid of all the pesky bugs before our company arrived. Tony had to help her reach that one!

She got it to the ground, and now she's playing with it before she eats it. What a friendly kitty!

Now all of our guests have gone home after a delicious meal and dessert! Tony is so wonderful and does most of our dishes. Luna wanted to help, but Tony kept knocking her off the counter (number 1 rule in our house: No cats on the counters!). So, she decided to sit and wait for him to finish.

I needed a snack. Luna sat watching me. Then she stretched out to see what I was eating, and before long, she jumped up to have a better look.

Monday night=Game night!

Tony and I experienced a first in our married life: a week night that we didn't pass out on the couch before 8pm! We kept the TV off and played some Rummikub. It was a fun night together!

Visitors!

Last Saturday, the Kasson Knutsons FINALLY came to visit us at our home! We handed out belated Halloween treats, gave a tour of our house, ate some pizza, played with Luna, and visited. It was such a great night!

Natalie enjoyed a wedding cupcake for dessert!

Harvey wanted to learn more about Uncle Tony's fireplace tools. Natalie jumped in on the shot, but Harvey is loving the wind blowing in his face!

Luna had some great playtime with her cousins. There were cat toys EVERYWHERE!

Harvey liked his pizza and pickles. The Mountain Dew is Uncle Tony's, FYI.

Luna loves meal time. She jumped right up with Natalie to share some pizza.

Before the kids went home, they used Uncle Tony as a jungle gym.

Edits.

Today was the day my body decided it was tired from our wedding weekend. When I got home from class tonight, around 10pm, I needed to unwind. So, I used picnik and played around with some wedding photos. I thought I'd share!

Happy Belated Halloween!

Monday was our first time handing out Halloween candy at our new home! We had some fun with it. Tony decorated up as a surgeon. People who came to our house that know us thought he was just coming home from work. That led to a discussion about the fact that even though Tony is a registered nurse, he does not wear scrubs. (I find it strange as well!) I did not dress up, but I did wear an orange shirt.

But let's go back to the beginning of our Halloween. This was the first day that Tony and I had no obligations to anyone but each other. So, we took care of some business at my bank. We changed my name on all of my accounts, and we added Tony as a signer. We also opened a joint checking and savings! Do you know how hard it was for me to not sign my maiden name? So hard that I had to redo it several times!

Then Tony and I drove down to St. Ansgar, IA. My aunt Christa told me about this lady who freeze dries flowers down there. I really loved my bouquet, so I decided to have it preserved. It was a beautiful day for a drive down there.

Tony and I stopped in Austin to have our first meal out at a restaurant as Husband and Wife. We ate at Pizza Ranch. Since I usually say "HECK NO" on the pizza joints, I figured I should be a good wife and give in. I even enjoyed most of the pizza I ate. (I'm just not a pizza person...)

We realized at lunch that we did not have any Halloween candy yet. So, we stopped at Target in Austin and bought a bunch. We even bought special treats for cousins/neighbors. Here they are:

We found little Halloween root beers and kettle corn bags. Out of the 47 kiddos that came to our door, 7 were Smidt cousins and 4 were neighbors. They were surprised with these treats!

Luna LOVED Halloween. Here she is waiting for the next doorbell ring to help pass out candy. There you see the bucket that was used for other trick or treaters.

Here's my niece Maya in her Halloween outfit I bought her. She really is Totally Wicked Cute! I tried to get her to smile for a picture, but unfortunately, she didn't smile until the camera was put away!

Here she is looking at her new auntie! I just love that little tummy of hers!

The Day of Birthdays!

November 1st has become quite the day of birthdays in our family. It started back in 1953 when my father Clarence "Buck" Edward was born. Today is his 58th birthday!

Next we have Nathan Alyn. He's the kid in purple with the moose hands! He is turning 8 today!

And last but not least, we have Megan Tamara. She is 6 years old today!

Happy Birthday to my Dad and two younger cousins!
