William Henry

I promised I would keep my blog updated, but I certainly failed on that part very quickly! However, I do need to make a big blog announcement and introduce the newest Knutson.

On Tuesday, December 15th, after having a day of feeling grumpy for being so pregnant and having so much back pain from my ruptured disc, I went to bed early. At midnight, I awoke with a strange feeling, and then I realized my water had broke. My mom came over and watched as Tony and I hustled around the house trying to pack our bags. We weren't prepared for our little one to arrive 3 weeks early, so nothing was where it should be. As we were on our way to the hospital, my contractions started in strong at 4min a part! Yikes! That happened very quickly!

We were checked into the hospital by 1:30am. As labor progressed, I realized that my back was not going to make it through a "natural" labor and delivery. I started asking about my options. The OB team, midwife, Tony and I decided a c-section would be the best option to save my back. Since I have spinal fusion and with the ruptured discs, they couldn't give me an epidural for the c-section. They had to put me out with general anesthesia. It certainly wasn't how I expected the birth of our baby to be, but it was for the best. Tony was able to come into the operating room minutes after our little one arrived.

5:33am, William Henry came into this world at 6lbs 4oz and 19.75 inches long. Tony tells me I woke up around 6am, and William was placed in my arms. I don't remember much until after 7am however. William and I were both quite sleepy the entire day.

Because William came early, he's had a few feeding issues, but he seems to be on the road to gaining lots of weight as we approach his due date! I'll share a few pictures from our newborn shoot, and as soon as I download the camera pictures, I'll post those too!

I still don't know how we pulled this shot off, but we did. Charlie was a perfect angel!

Brotherly love. Charlie is absolutely in love with his little brother!
