One more thing accomplished!

I haven't been writing much about our wedding in a while. This is because I'm working a 20 day streak, so I haven't done much with the wedding! However, yesterday I got home from work early, so I decided to hammer out the invitation details. Since I bought my dress at David's Bridal, I received a packet of discounts. One of these discounts was 30% off all invitations. I really wanted to make my own invitations, but Tony and I looked through the ones online and fell in love with one. So.....we personalized them and ordered them! They should be shipped out in the next week! What a weight off my shoulders knowing they are on the way, and I don't have to spend hours making them!

We are going to have a little table at our reception in memory of our grandparents. I only have one grandfather left and Tony only has his mom's parents. We wanted to make a little tribute to the grandparents who were a big part of our lives. I bought the materials to make little memorial candles....Since we have 5 grandparents who have passed away, we will have one for each of them. I'm going to print their names on the vellum and wrap around the glass cylinders. I'll put a votive candle in each and it will illuminate the entire cylinder.
This is a close up of the pattern on the vellum I'll be using.

Friday night after school, I went to my friend Dawn's house. She has had three weddings out to her house, so she has quite a few wedding things to spare. We had a blast going through the totes. These are a few of the items I acquired. I'll also be stealing some old mason jars for centerpieces...
One last thing: I was browsing around Michael's and found some neat cupcake wrappers. My cousin, Hannah Hemann, will be making a cake and the cupcakes, so I thought I'd purchase the wrappers while I was there! I love them!
Well, these are the things that are now crossed off my list! I just got the call that I don't need to work today, so I'll be spending the day with the Smidt family and the Knutson family!

Practicing my auntie skills...

Tonight I spent a wonderful evening with my "soon to be" niece and nephew, Natalie and Harvey. Our night began by teaching them some new songs. We did "A-ump a-ump a Bubble Gum", "Pizza Hut", and "Bumble Bee". We actually did "Bumble Bee" about 10 times! That was Harvey's favorite! In the middle of the song, Harvey started yelling "ice cream! ice cream!". Then, we heard the magical sounds of the ice cream truck. I picked up Harvey and told Natalie to put some shoes on. She was searching frantically around the entryway and couldn't find any. Finally she yelled "Can't I go without shoes, the truck is COMING!" So, we ran out to meet the truck and enjoyed some delicious ice cream. I had a fudge bar; Natalie a Birthday Cake Sandwich, and Harvey got a push-up. Delicious treat while sitting in the sun on the driveway.

We went inside, and Natalie and I decided it was time to paint our nails. I brought along my collection of polishes. It was a tough decision which one to pick!

Harvey sat at the table with us. He didn't seem too excited about the girly time we were having. So, he enjoyed some goldfish crackers. Doesn't he look like he's having fun?

While we were waiting for the polish to dry (red on fingernails and purple on toes), I French braided Natalie's hair. She sat so still for me!
We decided to watch just a little PBS Kids before we got ready for bed. So we curled up on the couch together. When the show was over, we headed downstairs, read some books, and the kiddies fell fast asleep. What a great night! I'm very lucky that these beautiful kids are now in my life!

One amazing year together!

Well, 1 year ago today Tony awkwardly asked me (in his parent's basement, while eating buttered noodles and listening to some old records)....if I would be his girlfriend. Does this sound a little middle schoolish to you?? It was quite sweet regardless! How crazy is it that now, in 5 months, we're getting married! Guess we're not wasting any time.

Anyways, I was hanging out with some friends from Triton after school today, so when I got home Tony had already left for the show. But, when I went into my room, I found this sweet little surprise!

Inside, I found 2 movies and the sunglasses I LOVED from Target. What a sweet finance I have!

It's been such a wonderful year together!

Friends and Fun

Thursday night I FINALLY moved back to Stewartville after spending 9 LONG months in Eau Claire.

Tony and I had some friends of mine from college (Becky, Spencer, Kelly and Livia) come to visit to see "Loving Lorna Doone". We had a blast watching the show, and then we went out for some post show appetizers and drinks. Livia finally met Tony for the first time! She is going to be a bridesmaid in our wedding, so we thought they should really meet!

This morning, we all hopped into the car and went up to David's Bridal. Becky and Livia tried on and bought their dresses for our wedding. Livia and I also bought our dresses for Becky and Spencer's wedding, which will be October 8th up in Siren, WI.

Then....we headed to the mall and Target for a little shopping adventure. Since Tony and I have taken NO pictures together since we got engaged, I felt it was necessary. Aren't we an attractive couple...?

Kelly, Livia, and Spencer felt like a photo shoot with their fun hats on!

While all of the hat trying on and sunglass photo shoot was going on, Becky was legitimately looking for sunglasses.

It was such a fun weekend! It was great that Tony was able to actually spend some time with us as well!

Now, I'm off to see the show for one last time!!!

Fun fiance Sunday evening...

Since Tony and I got engaged, we have hardly spent any time together. He is either rushing off to the theater or work, and I'm always in Eau Claire working or at family functions. So....last night we decided to have a bit of a low-key date night.

I was VERY hungry for Chinese food, so we walked down to the Lucky Panda and enjoyed some sweet and sour goodness. Although I was quite disappointed in my fried rice, the company made up for it.

We talked and talked about the possibility of adopting a kitten. 2 little kittens from the Eau Claire Humane Society came to visit my residents at work on Friday, and I fell in love with them instantly. So, I talked Tony into adopting a kitten. We're figuring out which one as I write....Tony never expected me to want a cat, so I'm thinking he's a little excited.

Then we walked back to the apartment to drop off our left overs before we went for a walk around town. On the way back, my parents called and said they were out and about walking to the Post Office and wanted to stop by for a visit. An hour and a half later, the visiting was over. It was nice to spend time with them too. We really don't see our parents much lately...

We took a little walk and decided to check out a geo cash on the way to Dairy Queen. Unfortunately, the cash was no longer there. I was actually getting into finding it too!

Dairy Queen was the highlight of the walk! We both had ice cream cones! Mine was dipped in crunchy stuff, his in chocolate. Delicious!

After our DQ we went back to the apartment and hung out with Will and talked about wedding details....Like flowers, menu, and asked Will to be a groomsman!

Such a fun and simple night together that was much needed. Now, I wonder when the next time will be that we can do something fun......

Say Yes to the Dress

Yesterday was quite an eventful day! Jacque, Kaylee and I met my mother at David's Bridal in Rochester. After filling up on caffeine, we ventured in to see if the "perfect" dress would be found....And it was! The last dress I tried on brought my mother to tears, so I knew that must be the one! Since it was a clearance dress (YAHOO!) we paid for it and brought it right home. Now, it hangs in my old closet at my parent's house! Our consultant asked if I was saying yes to the dress. We had to explain the show to my mother, but now that's what she keeps telling people that I did!

After we picked out my dress (sorry, no pictures will be posted publicly. We can't let Tony see before the big day) we started to try on bridesmaid's dresses. The first one Kaylee bug tried on fit her perfectly! She was so beautiful! Jacque tried the same dress on, and we knew it was perfect!
Imagine this in plum

Then, we went to HuHot to celebrate our excellent wedding dress shopping day!

We love this place! Then Kaylee, Jacque and I continued shopping at the mall. Everything they found in either purple, orange, or yellow they asked if they could wear to the wedding...
Overall, this was such a fun and special day! I'm so happy they were all there with me! Next weekend, Becky and Livia will be trying the dresses on!!

Off to church I go! Happy Sunday!

Disappearing act!

For those of you that checked out our blog before may have noticed that it fell off the face of the earth! Just completely vanished! So, here I am again! We're up and ready to go!

For those of you that did not check out the blog yet.......Tony and I got engaged May 3, and we're getting married October 29, 2010 in Rochester! I'm trying to be a crafty money saving bride; therefore,I anticipate many times where I will need time and a place to vent/share. That's where this blog comes into play! I will be documenting the progress of our wedding plans from start to finish!

Here was my first bullet on the homemade wedding item to-do list: Save the Dates! I made these little magnets! If you don't get one, that does not mean that we're not inviting you! I made 100 thinking that would be enough, but after our parents added some guests to our list, it will not be sufficient! (I also have not mailed them out yet....Tony has some address work to do!)

You maybe noticed a theme with these Save the Dates...the colors! We decided on a deep purple (also known as Plum at David's Bridal), orange, and yellow for our wedding day color scheme.

Today is the day I go wedding dress and bridesmaid dress shopping! My mother, cousin Jacque (maid of honor) and cousin Kaylee (junior bridesmaid) will be accompanying me. I'm a little nervous considering I split with Tony a basket of sweet potato fries, fried green beans, and cheesecake last night at TGI Fridays after attending "Loving Lorna Doone" for the 3rd time.

Here's an example of one of the trial invitations I made. However, the more I think about it, the more inclined I am to buy pre-made pocket invitations from VIP in Rochester. It took me a long time to assemble the pocket for the inside of the invite. I like the simplicity of the front, so this is more than likely how that will look regardless if I make the actual pocket or buy pre-made. (Note the glittery wedding gown! I love that part!)

Well, I am off to make myself presentable for dress shopping! Hope this blog doesn't mysteriously disappear like the last one!
